Upcoming Events:

I will attend the Institute for Arts and Humanities Emerging Writers Cafe on December 5th, 2016, at Hyde Hall on the campus of UNC-Chapel Hill.

I will lead a workshop in parasol history and construction at Indiana University in spring of 2017. (Dates TBA.)

Third Tuesdays: I may often be found at the Triangle Regional Chapter meetings of the NC Writers Network, held at the Chapel Hill Library from 6pm-8pm.

Past event highlights:

August 28-29, 2015 -- Chapel Hill, NC

  • I presented a lecture and a workshop session at the USITT-Southeast Regional Conference for theatre technology. I also sold and signed copies of my textbook, Sticks in Petticoats: Parasol Manufacture for the Modern Costumer.

June 23, 2015 -- Chapel Hill, NC

  • I read a short exerpt from my current novel-in-progress, Casket of Secrets, at the Chapel Hill Public Library.

May 15-17, 2015 -- Durham, NC

  • I volunteered at the Read Local NC conference in downtown Durham, NC, and on the Sunday, read a short excerpt on the festival stage from my current novel-in-progress, Casket of Secrets.

November 21-23, 2014 -- Charlotte, NC

  • I attended the North Carolina Writers Network Fall Conference on a full scholarship.

November 19, 2014 -- Chapel Hill, NC

  • I gave the introduction to a screening of the documentary Finding Vivian Maier as part of the Ackland Film Forum.

  • I read a short selection from my then-forthcoming essay in Fourth Genre, "How to Tar and Feather a Thief."
