Rachel E. Pollock teaches at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the costume production MFA program; she also makes elaborate costumes (including hats) for actors in the PlayMakers Repertory Company, a professional regional theatre in residence on the UNC campus.

Rachel began creating millinery for the stage in 1993, and since then she has made custom hats and headpieces for all kinds of performers—actors, rock stars, showgirls, magicians, opera divas, ballerinas, go-go dancers, and drag queens.

She lives in Durham, NC, with her partner, Chris, and a somewhat peculiar black cat named Riley.
